The Books of Light & Schizophrenia (2005-06), conceived as a 4-channel installation with wall text, is a project based on a poetic and self-referential process. The installation starts with a metaphorical storm when the character receives an unexpected water wave, reinitiating a new whole countdown. This first short video work ends, however, with a mute laughter, evoking life’s irony and absurdity. The second part unfolds a tormented love story where only a text makes appearance within the white screen. Aggressive in the confrontation it entails, this screen opens up possibilities for anxiety/destabilization. The third video sets up another evocative dimension through a particular footage: the death, the burial, the witnessing. Lastly, the fourth screen functions as a representation of a travel, through a window with rain fading away, referring back to a lack of placement and constant movement. It was part of my MFA Thesis Show at UCLA 2006.
